My apologies for the late posting of this month’s reading challenge. I’ve been busy wrapping up edits on a manuscript for a January release.
We’re reading historical fiction for August! Historical fiction comes in all shapes and sizes. The 60s have been a popular era this summer with Elin Hildebrand’s Summer of ’69 and Jennifer Weiner’s Mrs. Everything. For the most part, I’ve grown tired of World War II novels, although every now and then one with an intriguing plot will catch my attention.

I have also felt I’ve had enough of WWII books for awhile! Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of suspense, while I’m anxiously awaiting your next book! I just finished Dani Pettrey’s new book The Killing Tide (about the Coast Guard).
I also love historical fiction – my all time favorite is the Savannah series by Eugenia Price. She lived on St. Simon’s Island and wrote so many interesting historical fiction books about the south. I’ve read them all. She is no longer living, but her books are still available on Amazon.

Normally books like The Long Flight Home by Alan Hlad are not my preferred type of reading, but this one really seemed to grab me and I enjoyed it so much more than I ever anticipated I would.

Ashley, I read A FIRE SPARKLING a new summer release by Julianna MacLean. It has an intriguing plot with characters that could walk off the page, they were so realistic. I didn’t want the book to end, but I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I highly recommend A Fire Sparkling.
